Phills beat Sox 2-1

Wednesday the Boston Red Sox were in Citizens Bank Park for game 2 of a 3 game set against the Phillies.  John Lackey was on the hill for the Red sox, the Phillies countered with Vance Worley.  Both pitchers pitched a great game, but even with David Ortiz in the lineup for the Sox the Boston Red Sox offense couldn't get anything going.  The Phillies offense on the other hand got 6 hits opposed to the Red Sox 5, Raul Ibanez went 3 for 3 with a home run and a double.  A surprise for the Red Sox Josh Reddick went 3 for 3 with the Red Sox only run, witch was driven by a John Lackey RBI double.  The first 6 batters in the Red Sox lineup only had 1 hit.  The final game of this 3 game set in Philly is Thursday at 1:05, on 96.1 WDEV FM in Warren, FM 96.5 in Barre, AM 550 WDEV Waterbury&Montpelier, and servng the kingdom on FM 101.9 from Island pond WDEV.

Phills beat Sox 5-0

Tuesday the Red Sox lost the first game of what is considered the "world series preview."  if that is true the Bosox are going to need to bring their pitching together, and step it up a notch.  Cliff Lee pitched a great game.
Even Adrian Gonzolez who had batted 700 against Lee in the past went 0 for 3, there was nothing you could do to stop Cliff Lee.  Josh Becket on the other hand, was leaving way to many balls over the plate, and that showed on the scoreboard.

Josh Beckett was scratched from his normal start Tuesday, because of  an "intestinal turmoil."  Terry Francona said "He hasn't been feeling well the last couple of days.  He was replaced with Alfredo Aceves, Aceves has pitched well this season with a 3.30 ERA.

Sox Place Buchholz on DL

Sunday the Red Sox placed right-handed pitcher Clay Buchholz on the 15 day Disabled list because of a lower back strain.  Terry Francona said that the team had been thinking about starting Buchholz against the Pirates on eight days rest.  Instead the Sox decided to do the smart thing, that was putting Clay on DL.  I think putting Buchholz on the DL was the right thing to do, there is no sense risking further injury by keeping him active.
